On the Ball

After a long day filming around the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Westfield and Stratford we were lucky to see the Great Britain against Macedonia Euro 2017 basketball qualifier. GB won 96 – 79. Macedonia’s no 10, Dujkovikj worked hard throughout. Does a picture paint a thousand words?

Early Night

Even after a long day filming there is always the prospect of a pleasant surprise. I was running late and stopped for some quick bits at Tesco in Harlow at just the right time.

The Silver Darlings

I saw this fantastic old film, recently, set in Scotland called: The Silver Darlings. It was from the 1940s and neither Gordon Jackson nor Finlay Currie were in it. Still a good film though. And with new videos and films being created and uploaded by the second how can you ever hope to catch up?  It got me thinking. How can …

See You In The Gift Shop

Who could possibly walk past a cannon without taking a photo of it? This one was at Rochester Castle, Kent by the Medway River as if to be defending the bridge and river. I have absolutely no idea whether it was historically accurate or not. But, hey, it’s a cannon. But should it matter whether it’s historically accurate? Do historical …

Location, Location: A Marsh

We’ve been location scouting in Kent. It’s always important to find not only the right location but also the right people to work with. Fortunately we found both great people and great locations in this fabulous county. We always think time spent in pre -production is never wasted. Hope to be filming near St. Mary’s, Higham later in the year. …

Hay There

Spotted these while location scouting on the Kentish marshes nr Higham and Cliffe. Dicken’s country. Hope to be filming here soon.

Beside the Seaside, Beside the Gallery

Always sunny in Margate. Caters for all. It now has the fantastic Turner Contemporary Gallery, and of course it’s also Margate with its great beaches, old town, artists’ and creative quarter, and let’s not forget those slots. We’ve been really lucky filming along the Kent coast over the last few days. There are so many interesting artists in this part …

Long Live the Video Store

Long Live the Video StoreContinuing on from the blast from the past theme. (For those who don’t know)Yes, it’s a video rental store. I saw this yesterday in a small seaside town in Kent, Broadstairs. So rare now.  There was always something about looking at the covers and making your choices. On Demand is great but there was something tactile …

Caution

“I knew we should have hired that location scout. Now where did our camera operator go? Always last to show up, and first to slope off.” There’s something to be said for getting the right person for the right job as there is for the right company for the right job.
